VIRTUAL REALITY GOGGLES - A SHORT REVIEW ON THIS MODERN DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY

Our world and our everyday lives are becoming more fast-paced. The further development of technical innovations is also becoming increasingly rapid. While in your childhood you might have been told not to sit so close to the TV because it was bad for your eyes, various forms of smart glasses and head-mounted displays, such as virtual reality (VR) glasses, have been establishing themselves for some years now. You must place them directly in front of your eyes. The goal of these new visual output devices is to provide the wearer with a unique viewing experience that will be not available with a conventional flat screen.

HEAD-MOUNTED DISPLAYS - THE ORIGIN OF VR GOGGLES

The so-called head-mounted displays (head-mounted screen systems) not only make the projected images appear larger and more real due to their proximity to the eye. Some of these devices also cover the wearer's entire field of vision and follow his head movements. It gives the human an impression he is in the middle of the projected image space instead of merely observing it. In some cases, such devices combine real and computer-generated images so that the wearer can experience a reality enhanced by artificially generated objects. That's exactly what VR goggles do.

WHERE DID IT COME FROM?

At the age of just 18, American Palmer Luckey began tinkering with a new type of glasses because the head-mounted displays available on the market up to that point didn't seem sophisticated enough to him. In 2012, he went public with his self-developed smart glasses via a crowdfunding platform.

WHAT IS VIRTUAL REALITY, ANYWAY?

In general, virtual reality (VR) simply refers to the representation of computer-generated image spaces that become a new world. This virtual world can be based on actual reality, but it can also create completely autonomous worlds. Even a simple video game on a flat screen represents VR (virtual reality) in itself. However, it only aids such as VR goggles that make the experience of virtual space possible.

WHAT DO I SEE THROUGH VR GOGGLES?

In connection with VR glasses, there is often talk of immersion: the immersion in the virtual world. VR goggles just allow you to experience a three-dimensional space without having to rely on cumbersome cables or immobile monitors. The virtual reality experienced through VR goggles is no longer just called immersion. It is about your presence in virtual space. Thanks to the technology processed in these glasses, the wearer can move around in virtual reality and influence it.

WHAT TYPES OF VR GOGGLES ARE THERE?

VR goggles are now available in different designs and categories: there are devices with an integrated display, where connection to PC is required, with a connection to the smartphone, and with included a little computer.

WHAT ARE VR GOGGLES SUITABLE FOR?

VR goggles offer countless possible areas of application. For almost every company, virtual reality technology can be used sensibly. But even for private use, there are already numerous 360° video clips on YouTube. Here are just a few of the areas of application that are already in use: e-gaming, e-learning, shopping assistance, and virtual showrooms for product presentation. The e-gaming sphere is one of the spheres where VR  goggles have already become very popular. This technology also starts improving the online gambling industry, especially online casinos, and betting sites. Take a look at the virtual bookmaker  22Bet - may be, in some years it will be possible to get involved in the matches you are betting on. A great idea, isn’t it?

Anyway, VR goggles enable an enhanced spatial viewing experience. The areas of application and possibilities of this technology are diverse.
