Character Rankings Overview

Character Rankings Overview
Here's a quick look at how the Honkai Star Rail 3.8 characters stack up against each other:

Rank Character Path Role Key Strength
1 Sunday Harmony Support Best hypercarry support in the game
2 The Dahlia Harmony Support Revolutionary Break support
3 Firefly Destruction DPS Top Break damage dealer
4 Lingsha Abundance Healer Strong sustain with Break buffs
5 Fugue Nihility Support Solid Break support option
6 Aglaea Remembrance DPS Underwhelming Lightning DPS

Top Tier Characters

These characters are the best of the bunch:

1. Sunday

Sunday
Sunday takes the top spot as the best character to pull in Honkai Star Rail 3.8. He is currently one of the best hypercarry supports in the entire game and provides incredible value to any team composition.
What makes Sunday special is his complete support package. He can move allies forward in the action order, recharge their Energy, and provide extremely powerful damage buffs. With the right build, Sunday can almost double your main damage dealer's output.

Key advantages of Sunday include:
  • Action-forwarding abilities for allies
  • Energy recharge support
  • Massive damage amplification buffs
  • Works with virtually any hypercarry DPS character
If you don't already have Sunday from his previous banner, he should be your highest priority character in the version 3.8 banners. His flexibility and power make him essential for endgame content.

2. The Dahlia

The Dahlia
The Dahlia (also known as Constance) is the new character featured in Honkai Star Rail 3.8. She ranks second because she has single-handedly brought Break damage teams back into the meta as a powerful strategy.

The Dahlia is an incredible Break support character. Her unique ability allows Super Break damage for your team without needing to actually break the enemy's toughness bar first. This changes how Break teams function completely.

Her kit provides several game-changing abilities:
  • Applies ally elements as weaknesses on enemies
  • Reduces enemy defense significantly
  • Enables Super Break damage instantly
  • Makes Break teams viable again in current content
If you want to use a Break team in the game, you must pull for The Dahlia in version 3.8. She has become essential for this playstyle and opens up new team building possibilities.

3. Firefly

Firefly
Firefly claims the third spot on this list. If you plan to pull for The Dahlia but don't have Firefly yet, you need to get her during the upcoming banners. These two characters work together perfectly.

Firefly was previously considered one of the best damage dealers in Honkai Star Rail until Break damage fell out of the meta. Now that The Dahlia has made Break teams strong again, Firefly has returned to top-tier status.

When paired with The Dahlia, Firefly becomes one of the absolute best DPS characters in the game. She excels at dealing Break damage and benefits massively from The Dahlia's support abilities. If you want a strong Break damage dealer, there is no better option than Firefly.

Mid Tier Characters

While these characters are still great, they're not as essential as the top three:

4. Lingsha

Lingsha
Lingsha ranks fourth among the Honkai Star Rail 3.8 characters. She is an excellent sustain with strong healing abilities and cleansing support for your team. Lingsha can even function as a damage dealer in very specific team compositions.

However, her true value comes when used in Break teams. She can buff the Break damage that enemies receive, making her a great addition to Break-focused strategies. If you need a solid healer for your teams who also supports Break damage, Lingsha is an excellent option to pull in the banners.

5. Fugue

Fugue
Fugue was the best Break support character before The Dahlia arrived in the game. She remains a good character who enhances every Break DPS unit effectively. However, her value has decreased significantly now.

The main issue is that Harmony Trailblazer (a free character everyone can get) fills the other support slot in Break teams adequately. While Fugue performs better than Harmony Trailblazer, the difference isn't large enough to justify spending Stellar Jades on her as a limited 5-star character.

Only consider pulling for Fugue if you want to complete a premium Break team with the absolute best characters available.

Lower Tier Characters

This character falls short on the list:

6. Aglaea

Aglaea
Aglaea ranks last among the Honkai Star Rail 3.8 characters. While her character design looks amazing, her kit is very underwhelming and requires very specific support characters to work well.

The game already has many excellent Lightning DPS units available.

This makes Aglaea's value extremely low compared to other options. Her performance will likely continue to decline in upcoming versions as newer, stronger characters get released.

Unless you absolutely love Aglaea's character design, it's better to skip her banner and save your Stellar Jades for more impactful characters.
